Tourist visa for Australia, officially known as a Visitor Visa (subclass 600), allows individuals who are not Australian citizens or permanent residents to visit Australia for tourism, vacation, visiting family or friends, or other short-term purposes.

The primary purpose of the Australia tourist visa is for individuals to visit Australia temporarily for leisure, tourism, visiting family and friends, attending special events, or participating in short-term study courses (up to three months). It does not permit individuals to work or engage in business activities.

The Visitor Visa (subclass 600) typically allows visitors to stay in Australia for up to three, six, or twelve months, depending on the stream and the applicant’s circumstances.
